Preparations

Preparations

Early in the fall, the idea began to take shape. We’re actually going out to sail around the world.

The actual decision was made in early December, but preparations started a few months earlier. All to be on track with the preparations for a likely decision. Besides the fact that we have done some planning work on routes and ports (more planning is needed) there have also been many concerns about equipment. Personal as well as the boat’s.

It has landed in a lot of “need to have” and “good to have”. In addition to this, the boat has been given a thorough review from top to keel. After all, she is 13 years old when we start the trip. The review has been very rewarding. A lot has been discovered that could later create more or less major problems.

Equipment has been upgraded and supplemented. In one case even doubled. We have installed an extra autopilot of a more modern and robust type, which is mounted directly on the rodderpost. The most visible is the targa arch. It will provide room for more antennas and other equipment such as solar panels, radar, fender tanks and dinghy suspension.

In short, you can say that the boat currently looks like a construction site both inside and outside. The pictures show the first test of the targa arch.
